Star Trailing

For Christmas, we went to my grandparent's house in East Central Illinois.  One of my Grandmas lives on a farm outside of a small town.  The nearest town, you can see, is about 2 miles away.  I was very excited to see that it was going to be a New Moon while we were back there for Christmas.  Over the past few years, we've been interested in photographing the stars at night.  This summer, when we went to Yellowstone, we were able to dapple in it some more, but still had quite a bit to learn.

My husband, Graham, figured out the magic to shooting this...you don't use a long exposure as we were originally thinking (and doing).  I don't want to bore you with the details, but if you're interested in learning more, shoot me an email, I'd love to talk with you about it.

So anyways, this photo is ALL my husband's work...he's the one that read up, figured it out, and set the camera up...in the frigid temperature.

Oh, and one more thing...this is a crib, not a barn.  :)  I was corrected numerous times of the name.

Enjoy!  I think he did a pretty AWESOME job!

Fun with Shapes

A few days ago, one of my dear friends had a great idea...something she took off another photography blog.  So, we made a small girl's night out of it.  :)  We met for dinner at Panera and like little kids, we cut out construction paper and hole punched to make a simply divine design with our cameras and lights.  If you want details on how to do it, feel free to send me an email.  You can find my information in the "contact" section of the blog.

The "C" Family

A few weeks ago, I had the great pleasure to capture this little guy and his family. He is such an adorable little baby!  There was so much love in the room with their newborn.

The "B" Session

I had a wonderful time capturing the "B" family a few months back (I'm late in posting!). They are such a beautiful family and it was the perfect time to capture the changing leaves!

The "B & F" Session

This fall has been absolutely wonderful!  Who would have thought that in the middle of November we could actually go outside to beautiful weather and still have leaves on the trees? Well we got just that with this session!!

The "W" Session

This next post is of a friend I work with outside of photography.  She asked if I would take photos of her family in October as the leaves were changing.  It turned out to be a beautiful and sunny day...a little chilly, but overall a nice day.  Here are some of my favorites of their beautiful family from the day.

3rd Post

Tonight's photo blog is of another family that is dear to our hearts...we have a lot of wonderful people in our lives.  I started taking their son's pictures when he was a little one.  This October, I had the wonderful privilage of capturing their entire family!  Again, it was another incredible October evening. This October absolutely rocked!  Can't wait for April to arrive to meet their newest addition!!  :o)

2nd Session

This second session I am posting is a dear friend of mine.  It was a wonderful day overall!  We got to go up to their family property in Northeastern Kansas.  It was much different than I was expecting.  I was thinking we would see fields of wheat rather than beautiful hills of color and trees.  I'm not really sure why I was mistaken...you'd think being from Western Missouri that I would know that the other side of the river (only by about 20 minutes) is not going to be drastically different.  For some reason, that's where my mind went.  ;)

Here are some of my favorite photos from their session.  They make me smile!!

November 2011

October flew by!  Overall, it was a pretty wonderful month.  Graham and I stayed pretty busy with life, work, and other things.  I don't know that we could have asked for a better October.  The sun was shining all month long, the temperatures were in the 60's and 70's every day it seemed, and the beauty of the Lord shown through in the amazing fall colors. You'll have to stick with me as I spend the next few days getting sessions posted (that are long over due).

This first session I'm posting is of my sister's family.  We met early one Sunday morning and had a super quick shoot.  Towards the end of the shoot, we were able to capture her two daughters in the leaves.  One of the photos, you'll be able to easily see that "Z" had had enough...and that she did not want to wear the hat that was placed on her head.  In some way or another I was able to capture a mid-laugh/cry that I think turned out pretty cute...maybe my favorite of their session. :)

E's Maternity Photos

One of the most special times in life is spending time with two dear friends, in anticipation of a new little arrival.  Today, I got to spend time photographing E with a fellow shooter and dear friend B.  While it was only a couple hours, it was wonderful hanging out with them.  Here are a couple of my favorites from the day (there will be more, I promise).  :)
